City On Water [RP]

Max went to the only coffee shop in the city, coming ahead of time before his shift knowing that there would be a long line up as there always was. 800 people but only one Starbucks. Even in the evening the line up was still pretty long. He was getting a night shift and knew he was going to need the caffeine, even if he had slept the whole day in preparation. He knew by the end of the month things would take a serious turn for the worse now that the city was closed off. The only ships and supplies that came in or out of the city had to be on unmanned transports. Depending on how long it took to catch the hackers they would be slowly running out of supplies and food for the next few months.

Jameson was also in that coffee line, he too was on his way to work. He sighed glancing at his watch and looking at the line.

Max tried to remind himself to be patient the whole long time the line took. He was a little short with the woman behind the counter when he finally got to order and went to stand up by the pick-up counter.

" You would think they would have more then 1 coffee stand with a city this big." Jameson sighed waiting for his order to be finished.

"This is less of a city and more of a giant oil rig sorta thing, dressed up with fancy skyscrapers. But yeah with this many trade workers working long shifts they should have more coffee places." Max said. "So what do you do?" he asked Jameson

" I'm a doctor." He said looking at Max and seeing his uniform. " we both for the night shift huh?"

"Well it'll be a good night if I don't have to bring you any patients." Max said.

" yeah. I'll appreciate that. But in our business there are always patients." Jameson said still waiting. " I'm Jameson by the way."

"I'm Max. That your first name or last name?" Max asked, leaning over to shake Jameson's hand. "I've probably seen you around at the hospital before."

" first. " He said taking his hand and shaking it. " at the hospital you probably hear doctor Smith being paged all the time."

"You must be very busy then. How many doctors work at the hospital?" Max asked.

" 10 but a couple of us are specialized." Jameson told him.

"I would almost say it's a good thing that most of us has the Immunity but look where it's gotten us. I regret getting it now." Max said.

" that's why I didn't get it. I've survived with out it this long I don't see why I need it now. Plus those stupid nanties are the reason we are short supplied around here." Jameson said still waiting for his oder.

"Nanties?" Max asked, not recognizing the word.

" those little microscopic robots they put in you that fixes everything." Jameson told him. " nanites is what the science fiction worlds call them. I've read enough of them that they are never a good thing."

"I only got them because the higher ups offered it to us as a work benefit." Max said. "Maybe I can see about removing them..." Max grabbed his coffee and waited for Jameson.

Jameson grabbed a to go carry cup of like 6 coffees. " they offered it to me too. But I declined. I've been fine with out them so far. "

"Haven't heard of anyone trying to get them removed yet but if the rumours are true and they've been hacked it would porbably be in the best interest to. Is it possible to remove them?" Max asked.

" I'm not sure how to." He said walking with max.

"Maybe they can be programmed to leave the body bia the digestive tract or something along those lines? I guess then we'd need a programmer and not a doctor." Max said. "I'll walk with you to the hospital." He said.

" Yeah. Right now would say you're okay. No-one has hacked into you'rs yet. Which if I was trying to take down this place I would go after higher officials." He said carring his coffees.

"Still it has everyone who has Immunity worried." Max said.
