Soul Takers 2.0

Charlotte looked all bruised up and beaten, having put up a fight against Mehrabah. She looked over at Riley. "It will take time but she should heal."

"You need to heal, Char."

"I'm just a bit battered, nothing compared to you two." Char said.

"No, you need to heal too. Finish up with Kro then go rest." Riley said.

Char sat there a while, pouring all her energy into healing Kro before she went to sit in the armchair.

Riley had passed out, and was starting a healing process.

Char got up again and went over to Riley, putting her hand on his forehead gently and healing him until she was completely out of energy. She just barely made it back to the armchair where she sat and fell asleep.

"You can have your sword back Ignace, sorry I borrowed it." Rhett said, whispering not to wake them up.

"That's okay, if you hadn't we might all be dead now." Ignace took his katana back and put it in the sheath

Rhett nodded to him and walked off up the stairs, looking a bit paler than usual. He supposed it must not have been too cold in the house but he was feeling a chill and went to his room, pulling on a thick dark grey sweater.

Riley was out cold. More and more demons came to the house.

Rhett had gone to the washroom before coming back downstairs, his arms crossed over his stomach. He sat down on the couch, glancing at the new demons and not saying anything.

Charlotte was awake but still very weak. She smiled and greeted the new demons but didn't get up from where she was resting on the couch.

Jenjiki waited. "Is my father alright?" He asked Char.

Rhett seemed a bit uncomfortable being around so many strange demons. He got up and pulled on his jacket, grabbing his wallet and a bag too. "I'm going to go get some more bandages and surgical thread for Kro." he said. "I'll be back in two hours."

Charlotte nodded to him. "Be careful." She looked over at Jenjiki. "You father?" she asked, confused.

Kro groaned on the floor and opened her eyes slowly.

He nodded and pointed to Riley. "I could feel his soul straining..." Jin said.
"Awe come on bro, it's dad we're talking about, I'm sure he's fine. He does that a lot, the slick bastard." Another demon said walking over to him. "If you think it's bad, now, think about how bad it is for me! I've been alive for 100 years more than you! You get use to it over time." He chuckled. This demon had Riley's eye but had the sense of a dragon radiating off him. His tongue flickered out.
"But a feeling like this hasn't happened in over 400 years. You weren't even alive back then. Hell you weren't even a sperm cell!" A third one said. This one looked a lot like Riley, but had a human pressense. He flexed his hands.
"What do you know, halfling." The dragon said. "All you can do is call up fire!"
"Enough you two." A woman said. She had the hair and bone structure of Riley but had a cool vibe rolling off her in waves. "Jin, I'm sure father is fine. He is half the devil himself. It's not like he can just, die." She said.

Charlotte looked at them all and chuckled to herself. "I didn't know Riley got that busy." she joked, seeig they were all his children.

Rhett left without another word, glad almost to be ignored. He glanced back at Kro before closing the door behind him.

"Well yeah, he's a demon, who's been alive for thousand of years...and he is the original Cassanova. He's got thousands of us." Dragon said.

"Most from different mothers?" Charlotte looked down at Kro.

Kro rolled over onto her side and held her neck where the wound was.

Rhett walked through the forest until he reached the highway. He walked down along the side of the highway towards the nearest town.

The town was tiny and was a general store, a butcher, a bar, a family restaurant and a motel.

Dragon nodded. "Yep. One man, father to over 7,000 demi-demons and full demons." He said smirking. "Dad tends to be a bit of a player."
"But that doesn't mean he doesn't love us, or any of the women he was with." The daughter said. "He...just was never good at staying in one spot for too long, it comes with being half the devil."

Rhett walked into the general store and spent some time wandering around the aisles until he finally found one with home medical supplies. He grabbed some pain killers, surgical thread, some medication for upset stomach and lots of gauze bandages.

Kro lifted her hand close to her face and vines started to grow out from her palm and wind up her arm tightly. She looked up at Riley from the floor.

He was still passed out from exhaustion.

"Riley..." Kro reached out to touch his leg.

Riley shifted slightly as she touched him. He groaned in pain.

"Riley!" Kro tried to say his name louder but her voice cracked.

Rhett brought them back to the counter to pay for it. He hoped he still had money left on his card since he hadn't used it in over a year. He breathed a sigh of relief when it was approved. He packed them into a bag and started the long walk back to the house.

"He did that all in the past 1200 years?" Charlotte asked. "Means he had to have had about 6 children per year at the least."

"Yeah, he never stayed in one place for too long." She said.

The sound of her voice cracking woke Riley up. He shot up rather fast. "Kro." He said softly.

"I need to be outside." Kro said, the vines continuing to grow up her arm, thick enough that they covered up the arm except for a few spots where Riley could see the skin turning into tree bark.

"I've been around for over 90 years and I haven't had any children." Char said
