" I guess you're right. I just never though he liked me that way." She told her.

"Gabby...no offense but the man with probably the hardest expression and is definitely the most assholish person in general took time to make you a new shirt because you used one of yours to keep him from bleeding out. And not even that, he took his time to make you shirt that has strong stitches and thick fabric to make sure you don't get cut up." She said. "He likes ya."

" are you sure?" Gabby asked a little sheepishly.

"Yes." She chuckled shaking her head.

" wow." Gabby sighed placing a hand on her head.

"What?" She asked.

" I have been completely oblivious of it this whole time." She said softly.

"Don't worry, everyone is oblivious at some point in time."

" I feel so lame..." she mumbled.

"Why, because you've been to focused on other thins to notice a guy liked you? You aren't the first who has done it." She chuckled. "Try asking him to go do something with you later tonight." she smiled. "I know he likes the night time. Maybe that's good for you too." She smirked nudging her.

Gabby blushed not sure what to say.

She laughed. "Well I'll leave you alone for now. Have a good day and hopefully an even better night." She winked as she started to walk away.

Gabby took a deep breath trying to think clearly. She looked at the shirt Ian made for her and smiled.

The boarder parties came back about 2 hours later, but when they returned Scar wasn't with them.

Gabby frowned, " hey where did Ian go?" Gabby asked one of the members.

"Uh? Oh Stoneheart, yeah he said he was gonna go do some training and he headed off to the training ring." The head of the party said shrugging.

" thanks." She smiled at him before leaving herself. During the two hours she had put the shirt Ian made for her on.

As she neared the fighting ring she heard the clattering of metal against metal and shouting. There was a loud thunk as something hit one of the metal walls of the ring. "damn it!" Scar hissed from where the wall clanked.
"Scar, come on you need to take it easy..." Tadoda said.
"No! I've had enough time to heal, I need to get better." Scar roared back. "Come at me again!" He panted.
"...No." Tad said.
"What the hell Tadoda!?"
"Ian listen to me for a moment if you keep pushing yourself like this you will kill yourself. You will be helpless. I know trust me. I acted the same way after your father and I got stuck in the Ruined World when we were teenagers! There is a reason my sword is 50lbs." Tad said. "The first time I tried to use it I damaged my back and was out for a month! I had to take years to lift my sword with one hand. You can't just get stronger over night."
"But I have to!" Scar shouted as she heard him fall into the sand of the pit. "Damn it I have to! I froze Tadoda! I froze when Metalburn grabbed me and I froze when he pushed me! I almost died! Only reason I'm alive is because Gabby saved me!" He shouted. "I can't freeze ever again. I froze when I lost Maria and I can't afford to freeze again. What if I lose someone else. What if I freeze and you die, or Gen or...Cheza or Gabby! I can't risk losing again!"

Gabby listened watching from the side wondering if she could say anything to help him.

"You won the fight with that monster." Tadoda pointed out.
"Barely!" Scar panted as he stood up and steadied himself. "I can't be weak anymore! I need to get stronger!" Scar said. "come at me!"

" No!" Gabby shouted from behind him. " you already are strong, why push yourself to your limits and hurt yourself more?"

Scar stopped and look d back to see Gabby there. "Because I need to be stronger. I can't lose anyone else." Scar said turning to face her. His chest was covered in small Knicks and cuts, he heaved for air.

" and I can't loose you." Gabby said fermly looking him in the eyes unwavering. " I can't loose you." She repeated.

"You know me, I'm too stubborn to die." Scar said gently looking back at her. "Gabrielle, I need to be stronger, to be better." He said. "I need to keep you safe." He whispered so only she heard him.

" I'm not weak. I don't need your protection." She answered him. " you are already strong. You don't need to kill yourself trying to prove something."
