He jerked away from her, "You can't love a monster"

Nicky sat back on her heels looking wounded and vulnerable, "I see no monster, I've only ever seen you" she said softly

Mil looked at the ground, "I'm not capable if love anymore"

Nicky stood up slowly, "I won't believe it, the fact that you haven't killed me yet says as much. Emil, if you go, there will no longer be anything for you to protect..." She took a step towards him, kissed the top of his head softly and ran her hand through his hair before turning to walk away. She hugged her arms around herself to keep steady as each step made her feel like she'd pass out

Power started to emanate in the clearing, "What do you mean"

Nicky shook her head, "The first time you left you weren't even leaving me for good and I almost couldn't stand it" Nicky felt as though her knees would give out and her gut seemed to twist as she took another step away. "Emil... I felt so lost, so alone, nothing seemed right. Everything blurred together... I didn't really care what happened..." she felt her knees give way and she fell. Nicky wrapped her arms around her knees and just laid on her side, not wanting to move

Emil blasted himself I'm the side, "Emil come back! I can't handle this." His eyes glistened, "I'm sorry" He blasted himself again and fell out onto the ground.

Nicky slowly sat up again, shaking, "Emil?" she said worriedly

There were two holes in his sides

Nicky gasped, "Emil," she scrambled to her feet and hurried back to him. "Oh Emil what have I done?" she cried

Emil went limp, no signs of life from him.

Nicky rested his head in her lap and brushed her fingers across his cheek "No," she cried softly. "No no no no"

"Eventually one day I'll figure out a way to keep those guys out of the forest. I think they're trying to protect Death, who lives just on the other end of the forest. I don't know why they attack me though" Mavi said

Suddenly his skin started to crawls around the wounds, them closing themselves in a few seconds.

Jessy raised her eyebrows in surprise, "No it doesn't make sense that they'd attack you, but did you say Death?"

Nicky gasped and looked at his face for any signs of life

"Yeah" he nodded

"Like Death death?" she said curiously not really knowing how else to put it.

"Death, Morior, Mercury, Hades, Mortem, the angel of Death, whatever you want to call him." Mavi said

"Oh! I had no idea" she said thoughtfully

"He's not as bad as he seems." he said

Jessy smiled at him a little, "No?"

"Yeah he has a daughter named Shade and an adopted son named James." Mavi said as he lead the way back towards the ruins

Jessy smiled and relaxed, "Sounds like a pretty nice guy, I never would have thought that he had kids" she shrugged, "That's what I get for judging someone before I know 'em"

"Want to go meet them maybe?" he asked

Jessy nodded, "Haha, yes, if it wouldn't be too much trouble, I don't want to intrude."
