When they left (as I assume they did and will) Ellie followed behind with a respectful distance between them. Constantly watching for dead sticks that posed the threat of discovery, she walked and ducked and tip-toed behind them.

Ben was completely black out, so much not even Black could wake.

Ellie could see Ben from where she was currently hiding before following some more. It made her stomach take a nasty dive. She then stepped on a dead stick that cracked a crack so loud it would put a bomb to shame. She froze.

Sparky stopped and motioned for the other to continue.

Ellie swore loudly (in her mind, of course), and reminded hidden. What she was hiding behind happened to be a rather prickly bush, which she could feel like tiny daggers against her back. She held her breath.

Once the others were gone, Sparky looked around. "Come on you." He said as he placed his hands into his pockets.

Ellie remained behind her prickly bush, protesting against leaving her hiding spot. She would follow when he left to rejoin the others once more, this time looking more carefully.

"You can come out." Sparky said. "I dont want to hurt you." He said. "I want to help actually."

"Why?" Ellie asked, remining stubbornly behind the bush.

"Because I know. I was taken much like Ben was. I dont want to see others suffer." He said. He sat down on the ground.

Pausing slightly, Ellie leaned to the side to look at him. "You didn't even try to help him." He sounded sincere, but she was still rather angry.

"Cause you saw Brock's hands." He said. "And look at me, a twig even by the mutants standard." He said.

"That shouldn't have mattered." Ellie was being unreasonable now, and she knew this for she stopped talking with a long sigh.

"I know. But hey listen I wanna help as much as possible, but it's limited. So I'm gonna give you this key." He said pulling it off from around his neck.

"A key to what?" Ellie asked him, subconsciously rubbing dried blood from her hands.

"It will get you into the west side of Doom's HQ. From there take a left and head down the stairs til they stop. You will be in the prison part. We rarely keep a guard out so you should be safe down there. About 100 feet from the stairs there is a door, open it with this key and take the ring of keys from inside. Then it'll be up to you to find and get Ben out." Sparky said.

Ellie took a moment to repeat the information to herself, mouthing the words as she thought it. "Okay...Thank you."

"It is my pleasure." He said. It was then clear that her was only 15 or 16. "But stay back a bit farther, I'll leave a burn mark every ten feet for you in the ground so you can make it." Sparky said.

Ellie looked at him with a sad realization. God, he was so young..."All right." She slipped the key around her own neck, tucking it beneath her shirt.

Strife walked with the others

"I wish you luck, and I wish you love. If anything goes wrong on the inside I will try all I can to help you." He said.

"No, of anything goes wrong you should go in the opposite direction." Ellie told him. "You've done more than enough." She paused. "You should head back."

"Yes, I know, and No I will help you." He said quickly and left, leaving a burn mark in the ground where his foot was.

Ellie sighed quietly as he left, waiting behind where she once hid. It seemed like she was doing a lot of waiting these days. After she was sure the distance between them was adequate, she got up and followed.
