She squeezed his hand and lead him down the street to the deli. As they walked into the store, she glanced up at him with a smile. “What kind of things do you want for our picnic?”

She poked his nose affectionately. “Alright, no onions. Hmm . . . I think cheese cubes, tiny tomatoes, chicken salad sandwiches, and ritz crackers sound good. Anything else you want?”

After they had bought everything they needed, Skylar held some bags in one hand and held Jonas’s hand with the other as they started to make their way to the park. “Today is really nice out, huh Blondie?”

She laughed and judged him with her elbow as they entered the park and made their way to the secret clearing in the woods where they had met.

She knelt down beside a large rock and placed the bags on the flat curved surface. She smiled playfully up at Jonas.
