" I'm trying to get the special case more use to me... He has no trust in people the poor thing." Kayla sighed. " with such a fragile and volatile cat like that he really shouldn't have been in there with it alone...."

"That's how dad has always done it though. He's the first to gain it's trust before others are able to be in there."

" he obviously doesn't trust him." Kayla stated. " if it was any other big cat I would say it would be fine to go in alone just not this one."

"What is this cat?" He asked.

" I can't tell you." She said softly. " your father made me promise."

"It's not like I have anyone to tell." Kyle said.

" it's an experiment. That's all I can tell you." Kayla told him with a sad smile.

Kyle sighed and just rubbed his face. "It's always an experiment." he said.

" I know. I'm sorry I can't tell you more. Your dad doesn't want to worry you. By the way you should tell him, he think you taking all the meds you are taking is his fault. " she told him gently.

"What? Why would he think that?" He asked gently.

" in his State of shock he was going on about how he thinks all your problems are his fault. That because he wasn't a good dad you are taking so many meds." She explained.

Kyle shook his head. "I'm pretty sure these problems of mine are more genetic than mental." He said.

" I know. That's what you need to tell him." She encouraged him.

"It's hard, ya know." Kyle said. "He's done so much for me, that I feel like I can't ever repay him. He saved my life a few times, he was the reason I got my masters in carpeting and construction. I guess that's another trait I get from him, Insecurity."

" he loves you. There is no doubt about that, and he worries about you. You should tell him about your cancer." She told him softly. " he deserves the truth."

"I don't want to stress him out, especially after today." Kyle said. "One week. Gives him some time to heal." Kyle said.

" okay. I don't know what's worst him stressing because he thinks it's his fault or stressing to help you beat it..." Kayla sighed looking at her hands.

"In a perfect world I'd only have to tell him I beat it, and that he never had to know in the first place." Kyle said as he took a long pause. "Kayla, I'm probably gonna regret this but in a few weeks you wanna get dinner together?" He asked gently. "I like ya, like a lot, but I don't want you to feel like this is a rebound from Sam, I know I ain't a good looking as my dad, and I'm a little drunk but I want to say I tried and failed than never tried at all." Kyle said out of the blue. "And feel free to shoot me down."

Kayak blinked a little surprised. " yes." She said simply with a smile. " and you are just as good looking and more my type."

Kyle laid there and listened as they were left with an awkward silence. "To be honest I thought that was gonna back fire on me and end horribly." He chuckled.

" why?" She asked looking at him.

"Because I'm a mess." He laughed. "I need medicine to keep me sane, my family is broken beyond repair and I am a terrible person."

" and you think I'm not?" She said suggestively.

"Are you as fucked up as me." He chuckled.

" I have to take anti depressants." She told him truthfully. " and I have PTSD."
