Soul Takers 2.0

The boy moved his head from side to side but didn't appear to see anything, even looking directly at Kro a few times without reacting

Kro looked around confused, not sure where Kirin's voice was coming from. She ran out onto the frozen river

[Oh fudge, ooohhhhhhhh fudge!!!]

Kirin glanced back at the boy blasting over to the other side of the river and re-forming. "Kro, get to this side of the river, I don't think that boy is any good. Go find Charlotte and tell her to get back to the hide out, I'm going back to keep a eye on the boy" she explained quickly

The boy heard the footsteps on the ground, "Hello? Is someone there?"

Kirin breezed back up sort of by the boy. She breezed gently in a wide circle around him, observing him suspiciously

The boy stumbled slightly while walking, "If anyone is there, where am I? I.... I can't see...."

Kirin took form on a bit of rock sticking out of the snow and looked at the boy. It had to be Adri's brother, it just had to be, but that would mean it was the darkness. Kirin thought to herself for a moment ...wouldn't it? But he seems so... Kirin shook her head

Kro nodded and kept running across the frozen river to the other side but stopped when she heard a crack

The boy heard the cracking of the ice and looked in the direction of the river. "That doesn't sound safe...." He frowned slightly. "Someone or something is crossing and it's going to crack underneath... I must be near a frozen river or lake..."

Kirin went pale as the snow, "Oh no..." she whispered before grimacing. She blasted past the boy, leaving a faint trail of warm air and a soft rose-like scent as she rushed towards the river

Kro had already fallen through the ice when Kirin made it there. She was trying her best to hold onto the sheets of ice around her and keep her head above the water

The boy felt it and within seconds appeared at the edge of the river, as though he just blinked in and out of existence

The boy heard the ice fall through and extended a hand toward the ice, a powerful and blinding light came from it that warmed the ice and water, making it swimable. "I don't know who is there, but if it's a person, swim out of the water. It should be warm enough for you."

Kirin stood on the river's edge and looked at the boy dumbfounded before crouching and extending her hand out for Kro to grasp

Kro had already slipped under the water. Someone pushed the boy aside and reached in, grabbing Kro's hand and pulling her out.

Kirin looked up to see who it was

"Whoa!" Falls to the side and the light changes color to a light blue instead of blinding white. Suddenly everything he had warmed up instantly started to solidify into ice. "Crap, hey whoever was in the water, are you okay?!"

Kro just coughed as the person pulled her out and laid her on solid ice. They pulled their coat off and put it over Kro. "No time to waste, we have to get her inside." They said, lifting Kro up to her feet

"What's going on?" The blind boy asked

Kirin nodded, she hurried across the ice to the boy, "Just grab my hand and follow me," she said hurriedly, still on guard

They didn't bother to answer the question, already walking with Kro away from the river. They had a shaved head under a toque and it was difficult to tell if they were male or female.

"Okay" the boy replied taking Kirin's hand

Not feeling any sort of burning, Kirin relaxed some and hurried to catch up to he person. She was careful to avoid any hidden stumps or obstacles that might really trip the boy. "What's your name?" she asked as they hurried along

"Ulmis." They replied. "What are yours?" They asked as they led Kro, Kirin and the boy through the snow-covered trees. Before long there was the faint outline of a large building through the snowfall

"Kirin," she replied and nodded in greeting. She squinted to see the building
