Mortals and Undead (2.0)

Cutter just nodded quietly.

"No clue. Never seen one like that before." Atlas commented.
"Neither have I and I'm out on almost every mission beyond the walls." Wolf added.

" we need to understand these mutations more so then we can protect ourselves better." Nyla said to everyone. She looked at them all.

Cutter nodded, along with wolf. "The only question is how do you do that Nyla?" Atlas asked.

" i dont know how expesually with this new guy. But the other ones I can collect samples and stuff from." She told him.

"what types have you looked at before?" Atlas asked.

" I've been studying the ones that show up at the gates, the normal slow ones. We sometimes get runners but that's few and far between. I was just stating that if there is this new guy there must be other mutations." Nyla explained.

"I've seen a few different types. Rammers, sprinters, and stuff like that." Atlas informed her. As Atlas sat there his skin started to smoke and steam.

" um is that normal?" Nyla asked seeing his skin start to smoke. " Atlas aren't you the first known super?" Nyla asked curiously.

"huh?" Atlas said as he started to smoke and steam. "Oh yeah, it's part of the regrowing process of the...well I guess you could call it armor." He said. "Not sure if I was the first known or not, but I was hit with the meteor that caused the mutations and powers. " he explained. "Was in the jail yard when this rock about the size of a basket ball came from nowhere and smashed my neck." He said. "They thought I was dead because my body was doing this," he noted pointing to the steam rising from him "and then took me to be be processed but I woke up like 3 days later, I think..scare the shit out of the poor kid that was peeping for the autopsy."

" oh dear that would be terrifying." Nyla said.

" How did supers become a thing?" Ryder asked. " I just had these powers one day. Then I." He paused from what he was about to say. He decided to say something else. " What makes us different from the rest of the people? It seems like people were randomly given powers."

Atlas shrugged. "Not a clue." He said. "Maybe it's something genetical." He said.

" so what genetic marker do you and I have in common?" Ryder asked. " I'm from Wells. And you're american."

Atlas shrugged. "I'm Italian heritage?" He said confused.

" I could run some tests on this if you want me to." Nyla suggested.

"it's honestly up to you Nyla, if you think you'll have the time a d resources." He said.

" I'm actually kind of curious as to what made you guys special." Nyla said to them. " And maybe then I can reverse my mutation..."

"like I said, be my guest "Atlas said. "Take some dna if you need it but get it before the skin hardens again." He said.

" on it." Nyla said grabbing some stuff and taking a few different samples of DNA from Atlas moving quickly.

As she got to him she found even the exposed skin was started to become stiff and tough. The needle barely made it through the skin.

" wow your ability is quick." Nyla said to him.

"Yeah it has some perks." Atlas shrugged.

" okay ryder wolf and Cutter your turns. I want to see what genetic markers are similar to y'all's." Nyla told them. " Also do we have any girl supers who wouldn't mind being part of this test?"

"I would say Saber but I don't know."Wolf said.

" well if we have any other supers who wouldn't mind me running some tests that would be awesome." Nyla said drawing her samples from wolf, ryder and cutter.

The three of them let her, but Cutter cleared his throat. "Why am I getting my sample taken? I am not a super." He said.
