Mortals and Undead (2.0)

Vara smirked watching him serve himself the food. "A super should never reveal their weaknesses." She chuckled, heading to a table by the windows at the far end.

Cutter placed his hands on either side of her and looked her in the Eyes. "Nyla, you're too kind to have hurt anyone on purpose." He told her. "You haven't hurt me." he told her. "And you knock me out all the time."

"That might not be a bad idea, Akaru. I'd say let him cool off from today first though. He seemed a bit tense." Wolf said.

"Tense because of the botched scavenging mission, or is it something else?" Akaru asked.

"I'm not sure..." He said. "He just seemed...off."

"I hope Nyla gets back soon, feels like she's been gone for hours... Cutter too." Akaru looked around the medbay, which was empty except for one other doctor. He leaned back on the chair. "You can keep those comics if you want to, I've already read them more times than I can count."

" I only do it because you go into PTSD episodes that risk your life and those around you." Nyla told him truthfully. " If I'm not careful I can accidentally kill people."

" Hey I told you my weaknesses." Ryder pointed out to her. " Well in a kind of round about way."

"Okay okay... I can't lift anything with my mind that is heavier than I am, and usually I can't focus on lifting more than 2 or 3 things at a time." Vara admitted.

" the no more then your own wight makes since. Physics. But I think you could practice more to be able to move more at a time." Ryder suggested to her.

"Yes. It used to be only one thing at a time. It's gotten better the more I practice." She said. "I was really bad at it in the beginning. If I push hard enough with my powers against something much heavier than I am, say for example a car or a building, I myself will be forced backwards."

"Nyla, I trust you. I'd put my life in your hands first, before anyone else." Cutter said.

"I know Cutter some times sneaks out to go talk to a friend. I've caught him doing it before." Wolf said. "But not sure where Nyla went." Wolf said as he looked to Akaru. "Thanks I-uhm I appreciate it. Not sure how quickly I'll get through them, normally only get spare time to sleep. Otherwise it's out on scavenging missions or training in the core room." Wolf sighed. "I would really like to have more free time..."

" I know that." Nyla nodding understanding," but you need to know I'm not a natural super... I didn't have powers from the metor like everyone else... Some crazy doctor caught me and did tests on me. He made me into a monster..." She told him the truth mumbling the last thing about her being a monster.

" It makes since. You can only push with the same physical force you have." Ryder said nodding understanding what she was talking about.

Cutter lifted her face to look him in the eyes. "I don't see a monster. I see one of the most beautiful people I've ever laid eyes on." He told her gently.

"Hey love birds!" Atlas called to them as he had walked ahead of them. "how about we keep moving before you two become Dodo birds!"

"Well you have at least 3 days to a week to be bedridden with nothing but free time." Akaru chuckled. "I wonder if Nyla went with Cutter."

Vara nodded and started eating from her plate, looking distracted with that. Ryder's plate and fork started to float however.

"Yeah...but... I honestly don't know much outside of training and fighting." Wolf said honestly. He looked at Akaru. "Maybe. Who knows, maybe the snuck off to a private room." He nudged him playfully.

"I wouldn't be surprised if they did. But I don't think either of them are still in the Haven, Nyla went out for a walk, and Cutter might've gone to see his friend." Akaru said

Wolf chuckled. "Maybe their friend has a spare room for 'em." He said as he turned the page. He sat in silence for a moment before he cleared his throat. "So, three weeks I have to wait."

"I don't know about the timeline yet, we'll keep you in bed until the cut has started to close and heal over, then once it's close to healed we'll do exercises to make sure you can walk again." Akaru explained

"I'm sure it'll heal just fine. I normally heal really quickly." Wolf commented.

"That's good. I don't think I've ever been the one to patch you up before." He said. "Does that fast healing ever go away on the new moon? When you turn back into a human?"

"You know...I don't actually know. I've been injured when I was human. Speaking of which, do we know how soon I'll be human again? I loose track of howmany days have passed." He said.

"Moon is waning I think, maybe in another week and a half." Akaru shrugged. "You don't go out scavenging on new moons do you?" he asked

He shook his head. "No Henri won't let me. Says that I'm too important to the groups survival to risk being killed while a human." Wolf whimpered. "But honestly, I wish I was human more often...or even could control when I'm a monster."

"You could probably catch enemies by surprise if you stayed human but could turn back into a wolf at will. I guess every super ability has its downsides though." He said

"But that's the problem...I wasn't a natural mutation." Wolf sighed. "My dad could control his transformations at will, when I was...made I didn't get that ability." Wolf sighed.

" hey!" Ryder shouted loosing a hold of his fork. " That's not fair!" He laughed trying to grab for his fork.

Nyla blushed deeply after what cutter told her, " you aren't mad I'm not a natural super?" She asked surprised.
